OK. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and the tomato is indeed a fruit. And who knew that China was the world’s top producer of tomatoes? Just a quick note to Sondra…Reynoldsville may be the birthplace, but Slocomb is where the tomato was perfected!

I digress. I do know where the best tomatoes are on the web. You’ll find some of them listed below. This is a group of real estate and mortgage professionals whose goal is to give their knowledge of their respective markets to the readers of their blogs. My hope is that this information will be relevant and valuable to the readers of dothanhomesearch.com. Yes, it is a lot of reading, but there is some excellent information here!

As promised, here are the best on the vine this week.

Financing options are a big topic this week. Chris is the voice of St. Louis real estate, and enlightens us on what is going on with FHA down payment assistance programs. Rob uses his 3 Pounds on the same topic. Jennifer, who dishes the dirt on Arlington, Virginia real estate, posts about VA loans entering the 21st century. Margaret is focusing on Crofton while talking about financing higher priced homes. While we don’t have that many half million dollar houses here in Dothan, we have a pretty good market over $300,000, and this is good information.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for the beauty of nature. Marty over at Valley Market has some great pictures of a place called Hatcher Pass. I have got to get to Alaska someday. Maybe a cruise.

A little closer to home, but with no less of a view, we find Chad at the Front Porch View talking about the importance of price in today’s real estate market. Rob nails it…there is nothing more critical than setting the right price AT THE TIME OF LISTING. Will definitely get back to the north Georgia mountains before I am able to cruise to Alaska.

Bob is talking about new construction homes over at Raleigh Real Estate Talk. Specifically, why it is vital that buyer’s have representation when buying a newly built home.

We had some very beneficial rain late last week, but just north of here around Lake Martin, the drought still has a strangle hold. John Coley is the Lake Martin Voice, and he shows us how they are coping with the shrinking supply of water.

Checking in with fellow tomato Cyndee in Clearwater Beach, we discover that you’d better leave your drinks at the bar, because the fine is now $113 for drinking on the beach.

We certainly can’t let Halloween pass without some scary stuff. As if the current real estate market wasn’t scary enough, Jackie at The Real Estate Sizzle is pondering what has to be disclosed to buyers (including ghosts?) Disclosure laws are significantly less stringent here in Alabama, so buyers, you have to ask! And Kevin up in Alpharetta tells us that dead neighbors make the best neighbors? Ewwwwww!

Back to real estate to close out, Janis has the juice on the Port Orange real estate market, and squeezes out some great tips on selling in the fall and winter months.
