You probably read my Dothan new construction market updates every month. As a change of pace, I thought we would look at some specific subdivisions where new homes are being built, and talk about the features of these homes and the neighborhoods.
Highlands South
Highlands South is the newest addition to The Highlands, Dothan’s largest golf course community. Located in southwest Dothan on Brannon Stand Road, just off West Main Street, Highlands South has several homes on the golf course, and all are a very short golf cart ride away.
Homes range from 2000 up to around 3500 square feet, and the average price per square foot is just over $127. Highlands Elementary School is an easy walk away, and there is plenty of shopping within a five minute drive. Flowers Hospital is nearby, and any home in Highlands South is going to be less than 20 miles from the Fort Rucker gate.

Braxton Bend
Braxton Bend is located off of West Main Street and adjoins the backside walking trails of Westgate Park. This neighborhood has smaller sized lots, although the square footage is up to 2000 square feet.
With an average price per square foot of about $110, Braxton Bend has some of the more affordable new construction homes in the Dothan real estate market. Braxton Bend is also convenient for those working at Fort Rucker; a drive of a little over 20 miles awaits. Just down the road from Flowers Hospital, and three turns away from all the new shopping areas in the Montgomery Highway area, Braxton Bend puts you close to everything.
