August again showed more housing starts in the Dothan area compared to the same month in 2007. The general trend has been upward since the first of the year, but 2007 was so slow for new home construction in Dothan that there was really nowhere to go but up. Here is the trend for the past 12 months.
Inventory of new construction homes on the market in Dothan edged downward again in August. There are currently 211 new construction homes listed in the Dothan area MLS, down from 215 last month. The median price of these listed homes is $199,500, which is about $60,000 above the overall market median.
There were 26 sales of new construction homes in August, according to data from the Dothan MLS, with an average price per square foot of $102.96 and average days on the market of 170 days.
